after the messageboard provider got hacked and we lost all our posts, we also lost about 800 clubreviews, time to get it going here, please post your clubreviews here, the good, the bad and the ugly! All are welcome!

Stayed somewhat in the valley if you call studio city the valley last Saturday. Checked out this bar called Clear (clearlounge.net) I got in early around 10pm and avoided the huge line to pursue an hour after. The place was tiny but it was a really really fun and hot looking crowd. The best part of it... The girls were extremely aggressive and overly friendly! A total 180 from hollywood. Needless to say, I was a very happen man that night. I highly recommend this place!

Man, Spider was crazy last night!
They had a Lisa klein(??) fashion show, which was tight and the club was packed, have not seen the club this packed in a looong time! I never had a bad time there on wednesdays, but this week the door was drama, not even funny, not because the people at the door were rude(i know these girls and they are always nice), but it was simply to many people outside who all came at the same time. So if you plan on the coming week to go, my advice is GET THERE EARLY(!!!), because once you are inside, you will have a blast! |

I drove by Spider Wednesday night and it was a mess indeed, maybe it's picking up again. It's usually a great place regardless.

Hey all,
its been a looong time since i posted my club reviews Here goes. First off i thought that foam thing at Copa sounded 'colorful' so dragged some friends to check it out, After going up and down residential and making my straight friend go into 'encounters' that was lined up with foward gay men, we found out copa nightclub closed down TWO years ago. I had to give my friends the..'i didn't know! don't be mad at me' face. but we did find a happening (busy) place called McMurphys its 2 floors. $10 lame cover charge. but the drinks were strong enough, but the werid thing was that the main dance floor was sooooo lighted which is very none club-like but maybe it was to keep out mischief. A latino dominating crowd with some other speckles of other backgrounds. And everyone was bald or had short short hair which my friends and i thought was amusing. Im not hating but it did seem like a trend. Inside, upstairs was dancehall/hip hop/latin/reggaeton music. The dancehall music was great when we walked in. Outside was a decent not great house DJ but the outside 'heated pation was quite big and spacious which was cool. No one really dances out there. but my friends and i started up the dance floor as everyone just kinda circles around and stares. But we made the best of it. Closes at 1:30ish. So you ever get stuck in pasadena check it out. ALoha |

Thanks to alex for an incredible night out, Winter Wonderland @ The Factory was everything promised and than some! Loved the "snow" on the floor, the nice little christmas touches, the incredible music on all 3 dancefloors and first and foremost, the incredible crowd! I had a blast!

Yeah, that party at the factory was off the hook! The Hip hop DJ was tight!!!
On a side note: There was this wild gal on the mini stage: red top (and thong) and black mini skirt! WHO IS THAT!? :-) |

It was a blast. Almost made me want to run back to NYC to get to see real snow and I remembered it's not as fun to dance in.

The Standard in Hollywood on Tuesdays is off the hook, great laid back crowd, DJ Crash from the Playboy Mansion Parties spinning some dope hip hop sounds, the party starts more mellow, you can drink, chill and chat with friends and with the alcohol level rising, the crowd gets more animated. Dancing starts and sure enough people have a great time!
Deffinatly will get back there again next week! |

Ok, I have been around for long enough to know how to treat people attending my club - and I know the guys at Avalon have been at it longer than me - BUT THEY JUST DON'T GET IT!
So it begins: I had friends from out of town, and they heard about Avalon from a friend and wanted to attend. I hadn't been in a long time, so we went. I wanted to take them to SPUNDAE - however Armin Van Buuren was Sold Out, and their trip was last minute! The experience started at the door. We were the first in line after asking which line was "the line" - there were 3. We walked up with nobody in the "general population" line in the midst of about 20 people saying they were on the list - and them trying to find the list line. Not such a big deal, however, as we waited in line, we wondered what we were waiting for (11:15PM) as there wasn't anyone in the "BOX" - the area past the line where you pay, and not alot of movement other than the list line. I said hi to the doorman who walked away from me - now I know what it is like to be invisible. He returned 9 minutes later as I looked at my phone when he walked away. (OCD) I must add - there is still nobody in line with us. So he comes back, stick his hand out, and I only assume it was for my ID - whew! I assumed correctly. We are granted entry and not one word was said. I would at least expect a hello for a $25 cover - maybe it is just me! We pay and walk in stopping immediately at the bar to the left near the entrance. I ordered 3 drinks for just shy of $40 and again, not a word was spoken to us by the bartender. Seeing a trend here??? I am already not liking the vibe, however I wanted my friends to have a good time, and sometimes I just open my mouth when I shouldn't. We toured the area - both the patio and the mainroom - and the energy was Blah. Literally - Blah! The DJ was spinning Sunday afternoon house music in the mainroom and it was just flat - nobody was into it. (Thank God for the "candyman" on the patio - not that I would partake, however he was busy) As the night progressed, I couldn't find a polite bartender for the life of me. I don't have a problem spending $$, however I at least want to feel "adequate" about spending it! At about 1AM, the DJ's hadn't rotated and I was over it! (I think his BPM were the same as when we arrived) I asked my friends if they were ready, and they were - I should have asked earlier!! I go to the bar to close out my tab, and my bartender is nowhere to be found. Logically I ask the bartender in the same area if the bartender is gone, or on a break, and he shrugged his shoulders. Let me say that again, he SHRUGGED his shoulders! So I wait, and wait, and then he asks, are you waiting for something? (Didn't we go over this already??) At that point, my bartender walks in and closed me out. As we are leaving, my two friends want a shot before we head out. Out of necessity, we go to the bar near the front door. The bartender - same as when we arrived - was leaning against the cooler, looked at us, and then looked away. I thought - maybe I am wearing the wrong shirt, cologne, or something!!! So I politely ask for 2 shots of Patron. She pours and I begin to pull money out of my wallet and she says, and I quote, "We only take cash at this bar - Oh my God! (with a sigh)" and proceeds to remove the shots from the bar. I said, no no I have cash, as she was pulling them away. In doing so, one spilled - she then says - "YOU GUYS ARE OUT OF HERE!!!" Mind you, I am driving, so I am not drunk. However, the little 4'11" female friend I was with was. And she said, we are leaving anyways, however I have never in all my years been treated like this at a club. The bartender said something under her breath, and that set off my little female friend. As she begins to exchange words, I decided it would be better to leave now instead of have 10 very large men "Helping" us out. As we walked to the door, we were almost out and two very large men stopped us saying we didn't pay for our shots. After some level headed convincing, they allowed us to leave. In two words - ABSOLUTE MESS!!! In two more words - NEVER AGAIN!!! SPUNDAE invites you in and makes it easy for you to spend you $$ - AVALON keeps you out and make you not want to spend your $$! Wow, that was baaaaad assssss, thanks for letting us know! Only been to Spider on Wed and up there they are always nice.
Not sure if i would have stayed as cool as you are when getting such a treatment! |

ahhhh it's stories like yours TY that make me glad ALEX created this board.....my time is precious and I don't like to spend it frivolously at the type of clubs like AVALON. Makes me glad I stick to circus/spundae - say hi to david cole the ticket door guy and he shakes your hand and give you a hug.
Door people @ circus are ALWAYS: (a) professional in attitude (b) professional in dress as are the bar tenders. like alex once mentioned, that's why circus (the venue) has been in existence since the mid 70's. PS - hope u didnt tip TY Armand

Wow, Ty, still dont understand why you would not call or e-mail me if you had friends from out of town here, you know i would have hooked you all up at some cool club!
But yeah, props to your cool, i am not so sure i would have been that "pleasent" at the end of the night! BTW, this is the club review board, The Standard/Sunset Strip on Tuesdays is outstanding, a lot of fun. Cool people, laid back and well sexy

Standard on tuesdays is a blast, not sure if it was because of the Playboy Party, but people i talked to said it has been like this for a month now!

Girls Gone Wild Party @ Vine Street Lounge was fun for the free drinks and i always liked the place, but to my surprise NO GIRLS>>>>>

Wow, LAX on thursday was a blast, great crowd, good music, nice club. Deffinatly a place to go back again.
The door was a little iffy, but it was a brand new promotional night, so i am sure they will have all the kinks worked out by next week. I will be back next week and so will the freakin sexy girl i met on the dancefloor! (At least i hope so, lol  )

I really wanted to check it out after so much buzz...
I went to LAX Friday night with a friend ( male)...waited in line for couple of hours...finally got in....after building a rapport with the main doorman (peter or nick-Tiny)....it was crowded...quality of crowd was OK ( 50% ghetto shit..meaning people who don't how to dress for upscale venues) Personally I would not mind waiting for couple of hours in line if there are lots of models and celebrities but beleive me there were none. Good part, there was no cover and drinks were really well-made. Music was ok. In short, it is just regular place nothing larger than life..definitely do not worth couple of hrs. ( i was at privilege@shelter couple of weeks ago after waiting for an hour but crowdwise it was waaaaaaaay better). take care tushar |

I dont want to be rude or anything, but if you are ok with waiting a couple of hours in line for a club..... WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!???!?!
 That's what not only this website is for, but come on, there are plenty of places to go out, cool to go there, but after 20 minutes waiting in a line, i would leave. Well, that's just my 2 cents! And oh yeah, come on thursdays to LAX , not to many celebs, but a cool crowd and a lot of fun, plus i have a list there, so i can hook you up(!), just e-mail me!
